Ruth is a founding partner of Your Family Enterprise and works as a private consultant to family enterprises. Prior to establishing Your Family Enterprise, Ruth was a VP of Wealth Services with BMO Harris Private Banking. She joined BMO after serving as the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurs and Family Business with PwC, Vancouver. Ruth holds an honors LL B from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and holds numerous certificates and diplomas in mediation, conflict and dispute resolution. Ruth holds a Certificate in Family Business Advising from the Family Firm Institute in the USA and was one of the first Canadians to receive the Family Enterprise Advising ( “FEA”) designation from the Institute of Family Enterprise Advisors. Ruth teaches Governance in the FEA Program at UBC as well as Business Family Dynamics. Most recently Ruth has been appointed as one of two lead adjudicators for IFEA. Ruth’s civic and community involvement past and present include Board member for IFEA, the Advisory Board to the UBC Sauder, School of Business, Business Families Centre, Vice Chair of the Professional Advisory Council to the UBC Sauder School of Business, Business Families Centre; Director on the Executive Management Board of the DVBIA and the Vancouver International Children’s Festival Society. Ruth and her husband Erik have two sons. When Ruth is not working she enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, road biking and hiking.
